Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A vacancy now exists in the Sandoval County Assessor’s Office following the resignation of Assessor Linda Gallegos. Gallegos came under public criticism after an investigation found she was receiving compensation from both her elected county position and a state government job. Sandoval County Manager Wayne Johnson says the issue raised concerns about public confidence in the office, regardless of whether the work could be performed simultaneously. Deputy Assessor Richard Shanks is now serving as acting assessor. The county commission will appoint someone to complete the remainder of the term.
