Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Actor Johnny Depp is looking for the next great U.S. artist. Depp is presenting The People’s Artist Competion, which is raising money for a national arts nonprofit. Rio Rancho photographer Tamara Farmerie is one of 14 quarterfinalists in the contest. She came into the contest with more than 15 years of experience behind the camera, shooting everything from weddings to family portraits and high fashion. She entered the competition on a whim and is now firmly in the running for the $25,000 grand prize, plus other perks. Farmerie said a surge of votes from New Mexico got her this far and she believes the Land of Enchantment can help her win it all. You can still vote through Thursday, June 25th, at 8 p.m. MT
