Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)–Deb Haaland is now the democratic nominee for New Mexico’s next Governor. Haaland easily won her primary against opponent Sam Bregman. At Albuquerque’s Old Town Plaza Haaland took to the stage as supporters chanted her name. Haaland outlined her agenda that includes a new office of public safety that will focus on behavioral health and substance abuse and insure that law enforcement has the tools to go after violent criminals. She plans to overhaul CYFD, work to ensure everyone has access to healthcare, provide a public health option and make sure that big companies who want to do business in NM hire New Mexicans. Haaland’s agenda also touched on student loan forgiveness, renewable energy options and create a one stop shop for people who want to start a small business. Haaland’s opponent will be former Rio Rancho Mayor, Gregg Hull. That election is in November.
