Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Former Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has won the Democratic nomination for Governor against Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman. The Associated Press declared Haaland the winner earlier Tuesday evening.
Haaland was one of the first Native American women to be elected to Congress and was the first Native American Cabinet secretary serving as Secretary of the Interior under President Joe Biden.
If she wins in November she would the first Native American to hold that position of any state.
