Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – The Santa Fe Police Department and Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year old Jerome Jeremy Gurule, of Santa Fe, after he shot a firearm at a woman early Sunday morning. At around 2:30 Sunday morning, SFPD responded to a report that Gurule was fighting with two females including his girlfriend and fired a shot at a woman who intervened in the 1400 block of Zepol Road. Fortunately, the woman was not struck by gunfire.
The Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Drone Team was activated to assist with maintaining the perimeter and providing real time intelligence to the Incident Commander on scene.
Law enforcement conducted announcements over a public address system ordering Mr. Gurule to exit the apartment and submit to arrest. He did not comply. When his grandparents exited the apartment and contacted law enforcement, Mr. Gurule was observed on the roof of the apartment by law enforcement on the perimeter. He was instructed to come down from the building, but he returned to the apartment and barricaded.
SFSO activated their Special Weapons and Tactics Team, and they requested the assistance of SFPD’s Special Operations, which includes the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team and K9 Unit.
