NEW MEXICO – The Los Alamos Police Department is working to return more than $50,000 worth of recovered property believed to be stolen to its rightful owners.
According to police, the items are tied to a series of burglary and breaking-and-entering cases spanning Los Alamos County, Sandoval County, and nearby federal lands, including U.S. National Parks and National Forest areas.
The recovery follows a multi-agency investigation that has resulted in more than 70 charges being filed against two suspects—Nehemiah Hillhouse and Gunner Stacy.
Authorities say additional charges could be filed as investigators continue identifying victims and confirming ownership of the recovered items.
Police are urging anyone who experienced a burglary or theft in the affected areas, particularly near Jemez Springs, to come forward to determine whether their property may be among the recovered items.
Anyone with information or who believes they may be a victim is encouraged to contact Detective Cindy Garcia through Los Alamos Police dispatch at 505-662-8222. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 505-662-8282.
Officials say the effort is ongoing as they work to reconnect victims with their property and continue building cases.
