Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — An international presence is focusing on the southern border. Specialized units of Mexico’s National Guard have arrived in Ciudad Juarez to reportedly conduct surveillance and crime-prevention efforts along the U.S.-Mexico border. The additional personnel are conducting patrols on the Mexican side of the border, while U.S. Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection units carry out similar operations on the American side. Last week patrols were conducted along a stretch of the border extending from the Anapra-Sunland Park area to the vicinity of the Zaragoza International Bridge. Authorities say the coordinated presence is intended to enhance security and maintain vigilance across the border region.
