ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – The Albuquerque metro is starting the week under mostly clear skies and mild morning conditions — a pattern that will carry through the days ahead. While cooler pockets developed overnight in parts of northern New Mexico, the metro is seeing a fairly typical early‑March start, with dry air dominating and only the southeast holding on to some humidity.
A stretch of warmer‑than‑average weather is setting up across central New Mexico. As the week unfolds, Albuquerque and surrounding communities will see temperatures steadily climb, bringing several afternoons that will feel more like spring than early March. Higher elevations to the north will stay cooler, but much of the metro will trend warm and dry.
Fire danger is expected to increase at times east of the Sandias as winds strengthen, especially mid‑week. A passing storm system will bring a round of rain tonight into tomorrow, but any cool‑down behind it is expected to be brief.
By late week and into the weekend, high pressure builds back in, allowing even warmer air to return. Forecasters say this could bring some of the warmest temperatures of the year so far to Albuquerque and the surrounding metro area.
