Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico Highlands University Board of Regents has placed President Neil Woolf on paid administrative leave, and at least two other top officials have been fired — potentially the first in a wave of high-level departures. The reason for the decision remains unclear — even to Woolf. In a campus-wide email, the NMHU Board of Regents staed they will not be making additional statements regarding the nature or circumstances of this personnel matter at this time.” They added that they may consider further action during their next meeting, which is scheduled for June 2nd. Early in his tenure, Woolf drew criticism from Highlands’ faculty and staff unions, which decried his management of a hazardous chemical release in the university’s science building.
