Las Cruces, NM (KKOB)- A 43-year old middle school teacher in Las Cruces will remain in jail until trial after appearing before a judge on Tuesday. Wyatt Cornelius will remain without bond after his arrest for sending inappropriate Snapchat messages to a 14-year old student at Camino Real Middle School in Las Cruces in April.
This was not the first time he had sent sexually related pictures. Police say Cornelius had been sending pictures to the 14-year old girl for several months. LCPD investigators also learned that Cornelius had allegedly touched the girls buttocks and legs.
Cornelius had also encouraged the girl to sneak out of her home around 3 a.m in one of his text messages. The trial date has not been set.
