ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – The search continues for retired Air Force General William McCasland, who has been missing from his Foothills‑area home in Albuquerque since Friday. McCasland was last seen near Tramway Boulevard and Academy Road, prompting the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office to issue a Silver Alert the same day.
On Tuesday, investigators from BCSO and the FBI were seen canvassing the neighborhood, knocking on doors and speaking with residents as part of a coordinated search effort. Neighbors told KRQE they often saw McCasland walking in the area, and nothing appeared out of the ordinary the morning he disappeared.
McCasland, 68, retired from the Air Force in 2013 after a long career that included leading the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright‑Patterson Air Force Base and overseeing the Phillips Research Site at Kirtland Air Force Base.
BCSO says they are concerned for his safety due to medical reasons. Deputies, Kirtland Air Force Base personnel, and the FBI are working together to expand outreach and review possible leads.
Investigators are asking neighbors and nearby businesses to check any security or doorbell camera footage from Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Anyone who sees McCasland is urged to call 911 or contact the BCSO Missing Persons Unit at 505‑468‑7070. Anonymous tips can be submitted by texting BCSO and your information to 847411.
