Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — While the search for Albuquerque’s next police chief continues. Over 1,000 residents have shared their input on the survey that the city has up on their website, focus groups, and public forums. At all of the meetings, the majority of residents are in agreement that the next chief should be someone visible in the community, speakind openly with the public and be someone with ethical and accountable leadership. Residents want strong community policing, improving response times, increasing patrols in high-need areas as long as a balanced approach when working with youth and the homeless. Mayor Tim Keller said the feedback will play a critical role in evaluating candidates. Two APD candidates have applied including current interim chief Cecily Barker.
