Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Former New Mexico House Majority Leader and former APS board member Sheryl Williams Stapleton will have to wait several more months to learn her sentence following her federal conviction. A jury earlier this year found Williams Stapleton guilty of fraud and money laundering charges connected to a scheme involving funds directed to a robotics company owned by Joseph Johnson.
Her sentencing had been scheduled for December but has now been postponed until March 23, 2027. While Williams Stapleton faces significant prison exposure under federal sentencing guidelines, the final sentence will be determined by a judge next year.
