Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Changes to food safety rules that would clarify inspection standards, strengthen allergen disclosure requirements and update permitting procedures for local food establishments are being proposed by the city’s Environmental Health Department. The proposed changes include more transparent inspection grades making food safety closures and unsatisfactory ratings easier for customers to identify. Also included, updated food handling and temperature requirements, clearer food allergen disclosures and updated requirements for mobile food businesses. Before changes can take effect, the department is reviewing public comments made last week then moving into formal rulemaking and legislative approval.
