Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – A 9-year-old Las Cruces girl was killed early Tuesday morning in Las Cruces after being struck by a BNSF train.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, Las Cruces police and fire were dispatched to the railroad tracks near Conway Avenue near the intersection of south Main Street where the young girl, was found deceased. LCPD has identified the child as Nancy Harvey,
Initial information from the investigation indicates the girl, who was autistic, wandered from her home on the 200 block of Conway Avenue. The little girl’s family reported her missing shortly before she was found dead near the tracks. The southbound BNSF train did come to a stop after the accident.
The investigation is still ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
