Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)- Democratic candidate Deb Haaland continues to lead Republican competitor former Rio Rancho mayor Gregg Hull in the race for governor, according to a new poll from the Albuquerque Journal over the weekend.
When asked if it was election day whom they would vote for, 49% of respondents said they’d would vote for Haaland while 42% said they’d vote for Hull.
Still about 9% of voters are undecided or unsure according to the poll.
The results are nearly identical to a poll taken in August. Haaland has not been capable of extending her lead, while Hull has been unable to close the gap.
“Deb Haaland has a great financial advantage over Hull, and despite that, she hasn’t been able to grow that lead,” KOAT political expert Brian Sanderoff said.
Sanderoff noted challenges that Hull faces in building recognition among voters.
“There are a lot of voters out there who aren’t familiar with Gregg Hull. He’s running against himself,” he said.
Sanderoff also noted that the campaigns have been “mostly positive.”
