Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — For the first time in months, water is flowing again in parts of the Rio Grande, offering a welcome sight for farmers, wildlife, and communities across central New Mexico. Recent storms have helped recharge tributaries and briefly boost river levels, allowing the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District to resume some irrigation deliveries. But water managers say the relief may be short-lived. After one of the driest summers on record, much of the rainfall has soaked into the ground, and officials say significantly more rain will be needed to keep the river flowing continuously through the end of irrigation season.
