ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A Bernalillo County jury has convicted a 28-year-old man in the 2023 murder of a northeast Albuquerque resident.
According to the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office, Larry Norsworthy, 60, was killed on April 3, 2023, at his apartment in the 200 block of Charleston Street NE.
Investigators determined that Chacon was armed with a handgun and fatally beat Norsworthy with the weapon during the attack.
Prosecutors said that after the killing, Chacon stole Norsworthy’s wallet, credit cards, cell phone, a new pair of tennis shoes, and his vehicle before fleeing with his girlfriend.
On Friday, a jury convicted Chacon of:
- First-degree murder
- Aggravated burglary
- Robbery
- Conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary
- Conspiracy to commit robbery
- Tampering with evidence
District Attorney Sam Bregman said the verdict represents an important step toward justice for the victim and his family.
Chacon now faces a life sentence in the New Mexico Corrections Department.
His girlfriend, Jasmine Trujillo, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, aggravated burglary, and conspiracy. Prosecutors said she was sentenced to 25 years in prison and agreed to testify against Chacon during the trial.
