Beginning today (Mon) notices will be going out to more than 200,000 New Mexicans on Medicaid about new work or activity rules that will take effect as soon as October 1st for some and January 1st for other recipients. The federal changes require recipients aged 19-64 to meet 80 hours a month in qualifying activities including paid work, education, community service and job training. Renewal is now required every 6 months instead of 12 The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions is available to help individuals with employment services, job training and workforce programs to help them meet the 80 hour per month requirement. Some exemptions to the new rule apply and individuals should reach out to the Health Care Authority for questions. First and foremost if you’re on Medicaid be watching your mail in the coming days for the notice of changes to your coverage.
