ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — TEDxABQ is returning to Albuquerque later this month, bringing a full day of speakers, exhibits and interactive experiences to the historic Albuquerque Rail Yards.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, will center on the theme “Reframe,” encouraging attendees to explore new perspectives through conversations focused on the mind, body and soul.
Organizers say the event will feature 19 speakers from a wide range of fields, including science, technology, health care, education, business, the arts and community leadership.
“This year’s theme is about recognizing that perspective is fluid and shifting one’s perspective can change everything,” TEDxABQ organizer Alex Andrego Adams said in a statement.
Among the featured speakers are:
- Aman Priyadarshi Kumar, a New Mexico State University astronomy Ph.D. student discussing the sun and its impact on life on Earth.
- Angel Garcia, a former gang member sharing his perspective on rehabilitation and leadership.
- Justin Zebell, who will discuss the growing role of artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology.
- Christina Joymon, an engineer and investor focused on women in STEM.
- Dr. Sageline LaBaze, who will explore how artificial intelligence could be used to prevent illness before it begins.
- Samantha Schwann, an underwater explorer discussing ocean research and conservation.
The event will also include local vendors, experiential exhibits, a pop-up interview stage, community activities, pickleball demonstrations and youth-led taekwondo lessons.
Doors open at 10 a.m. at the Rail Yards.
Tickets are currently on sale, with general admission priced at $95 and VIP tickets available for $145.
