Yeferson Evelder Zepeda Lopez, 22
SANTA FE, N.M. — Santa Fe police have identified the motorcyclist who died following a crash Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Airport Road and Zepol Road.
According to the Santa Fe Police Department, Yeferson Evelder Zepeda Lopez, 22, of Santa Fe, was killed in the collision. His family has been notified.
Officers and Santa Fe Fire Department personnel responded to the crash at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 1 after receiving reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the driver and passenger of the vehicle at the scene, along with Zepeda Lopez, who had suffered critical injuries. Paramedics determined he died at the scene.
The Santa Fe Police Department’s Traffic Section and Crime Scene Unit responded to investigate the crash.
According to a preliminary investigation, Zepeda Lopez was traveling eastbound on Airport Road and is believed to have been traveling above the posted speed limit before the collision. Investigators say the vehicle involved was turning from westbound Airport Road into the Chamisa Center at the intersection of Zepol Road when the motorcycle collided with it.
Police said the driver of the vehicle showed no signs of impairment and investigators found no indication that the driver was acting recklessly.
The crash remains under investigation.
