Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Federal officials have lifted fire restrictions for the Mount Taylor and Magdalena ranger districts. Monsoon rains have significantly reduced wildfire danger in western NM to warrant lifting restrictions today (Tue) for campfires in the area. Forest managers are still urging campers, hunters and others enjoying the forests to continue practicing safe fire habits as conditions can change quickly. Fireworks remain prohibited on all National Forest lands, regardless of fire restriction status. Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in effect across the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca, Mountainair and Sandia ranger districts where the danger of fires remains elevated.
