Valencia County, NM (KKOB) – Now that the summer has started across New Mexico, law enforcement is warning about unsafe driving of ATV and UTV vehicles. Valencia County Sheriff’s have had several incidents in the last few days where people have been seriously injured in accidents involving ATV’s. In one incident, a victim had to be transported by helicopter with critical injuries from the Rio Puerco area.
Valencia County Sheriff’s reported at least two major crashes involving ATV’s or UTV’s in just one day, including one accident involving juveniles who were sent to the hospital with multiple trauma injuries.
Law enforcement saying that the summer break leads to an increase in recreational vehicle accidents. Riders should wear helmets, stay off roadways and children should not operate them unsupervised.
