Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – The City of Santa Fe has released a proposed $521.1 million budget for fiscal year 2027—an increase of about 8.1% compared to the current $479 million budget.
The plan includes a 2.5% raise for city employees, the addition of a new maintenance crew in the parks division, and a $3 million transfer from the general fund to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. It also outlines increased spending on public safety. This is the first budget under Mayor Michael Garcia’s administration. In a letter attached to the proposal, Garcia called it a measured approach focused on community-identified priorities.
The city is also using a new budgeting process this year, designed to give councilors more input after past concerns about limited involvement. The proposal will be introduced May 13 and must be approved by the end of the month. The new fiscal year begins July 1.
