Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – An inmate connected to the Metropolitan Detention Center has died while staying at a halfway house in Albuquerque.
A spokesperson for MDC says 45-year-old Andrew Witt was found unresponsive at the facility Saturday afternoon. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Witt was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to MDC, Witt had been placed in the Community Custody Program on March 24. The program allows certain inmates to live at approved facilities while awaiting court proceedings or by order of a judge . Officials at the scene believe Witt died sometime between 1 and 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
His death is now under investigation, and officials say a cause of death has not yet been determined.
