Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The families of two murder victims spoke in court today ahead of the sentencing for 20-year-old Andres Herrera who is facing two life sentences after pleading no contest to two counts of first-degree murder. The mother of one of the victims in court stated aloud towards Herrera, “I’m hoping and praying that one day I receive a call telling me that you are dead. I pray it is a slow and painful death – hopefully that happens sooner than later so that the taxpayers of New Mexico do not have to pay for you to live a comfortable life in prison.” With that said, applause filled the courtroom. And that’s when Judge Britt Baca ordered some of the family members to get out of the building at the Bernalillo County District Court. On advice from deputies, Judge Britt Baca reset the sentencing, citing safety concerns. The sentencing will continue in 30 days.
