Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A vacant seat in the state Legislature will remain empty until after Election Day on November 3rd. Dona Ana County commissioners confirmed Tuesday that the seat held by State Rep Joanne Ferrary, a Las Cruces democrat will remain unfilled until after the mid-term elections. Ferrary retired at the end of July, not seeking re-election. Democratic candidate Lori Martinez will face Republican Isabella Solis on November 3rd. It was debated on whether commissioners should appoint one of the two candidates, a placeholder not seeking office or no one at all to fill the vacant seat. Ultimately commissioners agreed to wait until their November 10 meeting to fill the seat.
