Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – An Albuquerque grandmother is in jail, arrested for kidnapping her grandson and impersonating a CYFD worker to get access to the 6-year-old at a local elementary School, which led to a statewide Amber Alert on Friday.
66-year old Marie Esquibel, is expected in court Monday, charged with child abuse, and remains at the Metropolitan Detention Center without bond.
Records show that Esquibel called the boy’s former school posing as a CYFD employee and learned he was at Cochiti Elementary in the North Valley. Police say, the boy’s father has full custody after CYFD removed the child from his mother, and after the boy had tested positive for narcotics after being with his grandmother and that was a reason she was no longer allowed to be around him.
