Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a man accused in a deadly Albuquerque shooting that happened nearly a year ago. Authorities say 44-year-old Richard Cardona is accused of working with another suspect, Chaz Estrada, in the killing of Travis Zabroski at a storage facility near San Mateo Boulevard and Interstate 40 in November 2025.
Investigators say deputies with the U.S. Marshals located Cardona in Rio Rancho on Monday and took him into custody without incident. Authorities also say Cardona was wanted on a federal warrant tied to a prior firearms conviction.

That case stemmed from a 2016 arrest in connection with a burglary investigation, where police allegedly found him in possession of a firearm despite being prohibited from having one as a convicted felon. Cardona is now facing charges related to the homicide investigation.
