Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The New Mexico Forward Party has filed an emergency application with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to place two statewide nominees on the November 3rd general election ballot.
The filing asks the country’s highest court to direct Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver to certify Bob Perls who is chairman of the NM Forward party, as candidate for U.S. Senate and Michael Vigil as its nominee for State Auditor. The party requested a ruling by September 18 because federal law requires military and overseas ballots to be transmitted beginning September 19. Yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Denver, denyed an emergency relief request on the appeal.
A federal district court previously denied the party’s request for a preliminary injunction.
