Los Lunas, NM (KKOB) – The Valencia County Sheriff’s department is asking the public for help to identify two people who are believed to be responsible for breaking in and vandalizing an elementary school in Los Lunas.
The incident took place some time on Sunday when deputies responded to Desert View Elementary School about a break-in at the school.
During a search of the school, deputies found two broken windows on doors beyond the cafeteria as well as spray paint on multiple walls throughout the school. On Monday, deputies said they conducted a follow-up investigation and reviewed school security footage with staff.
The footage shows two people breaking into the school and were inside for about one hour. According to investigators, the footage showed the individuals forcing entry through a glass door by striking the glass with what appeared to be a pair of bolt cutters. The suspects were seen leaving through the same door, deputies said.
