Hobbs, NM (KKOB)- Google has announced that they are considering opening a Data Center in Southeast New Mexico, in Lea County.
Google now has a website for the project where it states that the company is in the very early stages of reviewing “this opportunity and evaluating options to determine if Lea County is the right fit for a long-term partnership with the community.” The possible site for the data center would be around five miles west of Hobbs.
The website also says that the prospective facility in Lea County would be a closed loop, air-cooled facility to minimize impacts on local water usage.
This means it will not use evaporative cooling and water consumption will be limited to domestic uses like bathrooms and kitchens, with water consumption similar to an office building.
