Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –New Mexico’s Forgotten Heroes Funeral Program will host a service this Thursday for fifty U.S. military veterans whose remains have gone unclaimed. The ceremony is coordinated by the NM Department of Veterans’ Services, Bernalillo County, the NM National Guard and the Santa Fe National Cemetery. NM DVS Cabinet Secretary Jamison Herrera said, “these veterans answered the call to serve our nation, and we have a responsibility to ensure their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.” The memorial service begins at 9am at Legacy Church on Wyoming NE and the military burial with full honors will be at 11am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Both services are open to the public offering New Mexicans an opportunity to pay their respects to those who served our nation.
