Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –On Saturday the Wildlife Department darted and contained a bear that had been roaming freely through Gallup last week. Over four days the bear had moved from the east side of town into central Gallup before officials contained the bear. Youth events, and soccer games were all canceled due to the bear’s presence in Gallup. Plans are to relocate the bear outside the city. And on Sunday morning a bear was captured in a neighborhood in Northwest Albuquerque. Field crews with the NM Department of Wildlife captured the bear near Sundoro South Park. APD confirmed that a mother bear and a cub were seen in the area and the mother bear was subsequently tranquilized and removed from the neighborhood. Her cub however is still on the loose.
