Navajo County, AZ (KKOB) – A Los Lunas man is in jail in Arizona, in connection with a fatal crash that killed a family of four.
21-year old Jesse David Lovato was arrested after the crash and is charged with four counts of manslaughter. Two passengers who were in the pickup he was driving are in a Phoenix hospital.
The family of four killed in the head-on crash included Father a mother and two boys aged 4 and 2 years old.
Authorities reported that Lovato was on his way back from Phoenix when the crash happened. He allegedly said he fell asleep while driving and woke up when the crash happened and his truck rolled over.
Authorities found marijuana and cannabis vape pens “in and near” Lovato’s truck. He also allegedly told them he smoked marijuana the night before. One officer also noticed signs of impairment, while samples allegedly showed the presence of cannabis in his system.
