ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A late goal from Kipp Keller helped New Mexico United secure a 1-0 win over Charleston Battery Saturday night in front of more than 8,500 fans at Isotopes Park.
The match stayed scoreless through the first half, despite an early chance by Dayonn Harris that went just wide.
Charleston pushed in the second half, but United’s defense held strong. Chris Gloster made a key block inside the box to keep the game tied.
Then in the 81st minute, Keller broke through. He fired a shot from outside the box that found the back of the net, giving United the lead.
United held on for the final minutes to seal the win. It marks the team’s first victory over Charleston since 2022 and snaps a three-game losing streak, along with a two-match scoreless stretch.
With the win, New Mexico United improves to 4-4-1 on the season and remains in the middle of the Western Conference standings.
The team will head on the road next, facing Hartford on Saturday.
