Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The City of Albuquerque has released the latest statistics related to transit safety in the city, which include a 21% decrease in safety calls. “Class A” incidents, ones deemed “more serious,” decreased by 39%. Nearly 150,000 more passengers were serviced which equates to an 8% increase or more than 1.9 million passenger boardings.
Reporting started in spring of 2024 following the launch of the transit safety officer program. The next phase of the ABQ Long-Range Transit Security Plan includes adding more transit safety officers, enhancing data reporting systems and launching a new internal safety division.
