Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Albuquerque police will be out conducting traffic enforcement operations throughout the city after one of the worst weeks related to traffic, as six people lost their lives across Albuquerque in just seven days. Several of those deaths were motorcyclists speeding in traffic at high speeds.
Operation Safe Summer is now in effect in the Northwest Area Command which is focusing on speeding and other moving violations. Other issue in different parts of the city is that of off-road and ATV’s driving illegally on city streets. Police remind drivers to slow down, avoid distractions and be aware of others on the road such as bike riders and pedestrians. One man was killed in a pedestrian accident when he was hit by a vehicle in the Northeast heights. Also, work zones on I-40 and I-25 will have construction crews working at different times and police are reminding drivers of the state’s move-over law when you approach work zones or see emergency vehicles or tow trucks on the side of the road.
