Valencia County, NM (KKOB) – Three people are in custody including a juvenile in connection with a hit and run crash where a bicyclist was hit and is hospitalized at UNM-Hospital. Valencia County deputies answered a call on May 13 at El Cerro Loop and Winchester Lane of a hit and run. 32-year old Adrian Cuevas had been riding his bicycle in the area when he was hit from behind by a Toyota Camry that left the scene. After the initial investigation, deputies determined that the driver of the Camry was a juvenile identified as Julian Lopez. Warrants were issued for Lopez and two women identified as Crystal Lopez, who is Julian’s mother, and Rachel Silguero. All are charged with injuring the bicyclist and leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with evidence and several other serious charges.
According to the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office investigation, revealed that Julian’s mother, Crystal Lopez, and Rachel Silguero, met with Julian at a residence near La Ladera Road after the hit and run. All three then returned to the scene of the crash, where Silguero contacted Emergency Services and told Crystal and Julian to go home. Crystal and Julian returned to their residence and stored the vehicle in the garage and was later seized by the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office under search warrant.
The victim, Adrian Cuevas is still hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
