Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Due to the challenging water supply conditions NM is experiencing this year the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District is anticipating that Prior and Paramount only operations could begin as early as today. Prior and Paramount only operations means all deliveries of water to non-Pueblo lands upstream of Isleta Pueblo will be suspended. The areas impacted by the suspended deliveries include Pena Blanca, Sile, Algodones, Bernalillo, and the Greater Albuquerque area. The district states the curtailment is temporary and could be lifted if rainfall increases available water supply, allowing irrigation deliveries to impacted non-Pueblo lands to resume. Congress designated certain pueblo lands as having Prior and Paramount water rights
