Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A 26-year old man is in jail this morning without bond in connection with a hit and run crash that happened Monday morning in northeast Albuquerque where a bicyclist was hit and later died. Gilbert Nuñez-Guzman was arrested and is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence.
The crash happened in the area of Claremont Ave and Carlisle when according to police reports, Nuñez-Guzman was making a left turn onto Carlisle and the hit the bicyclist. Police say that the driver took off from the scene and was found hours later in a parking lot of an extended stay hotel.
The bicyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.
