Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Tevin King of Albuquerque has been convicted of a drug charge after law enforcement said he threw fentanyl pills from a moving vehicle while he was fleeing from officers in the Portales area. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of NM said King had an active federal arrest warrant in August of 2024 related to a supervised release violation. Federal law enforcement agents learned that King was inside a vehicle at a gas station in Portales and that he fled from agents driving at a high rate of speed. While attempting to evade law enforcement King threw a tote bag from the car near the the campus of Eastern NM University. The bag contained 16,000 fentanyl pills. The pursuit continued into Clovis where King’s vehicle collided with a law enforcement unit. King was arrested and later convicted of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. He remains in custody pending sentencing. King could face a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison.
