Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – This week the community will have another chance to meet three of the finalists for president at UNM. The events are part of the national search for a new president to replace Garnett Stokes who is retiring from her position at the university. She made that announcement in July. The three finalists will be meeting with students, faculty and community members. The first meeting is today at 1:15 with Dr. Eric Barker who is currently vice president for health affairs at Purdue University. Tomorrow also at 1:15 the public will be able to meet Dr Steven Goldstein who is vice chancellor for health affairs at the University of California-Irvine. On Wednesday, Dr Eric Link who is provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of North Dakota will be available for his session also at 1:15pm.
Earlier there were forums with two other finalists, Elizabeth Watkins and Ashwani Monga. People who attend this weeks open forums will be able to engage directly with each candidate and the community feedback will play a big role in the selection process.
UNM’s board of regents is expected to make a final decision after all campus visits are complete.
