Las Cruces,NM (KKOB) – An investigation happening Friday in Las Cruces for an Officer-Involved Shooting.
The shooting happened approximately 2:00 p.m. Friday during an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Las Cruces-Doña Ana Metro Narcotics Agents were conducting surveillance on a subject as part of that investigation. The subject was located in the 2300 block of Lohman Avenue, near a McDonald’s. Agents attempted to make contact and the suspect fired shots at the agents.
The suspect, a 45-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm in the suspect’s possession was recovered.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
The Officer-Involved Incident Task Force is now investigating what happend. The task force includes investigators from New Mexico State Police, the Las Cruces Police Department, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State University Police.
