Rio Rancho, NM (KKOB) – A deadly crash on Highway 550 in Sandoval County claimed the life of one woman and seriously injured another Tuesday. State Police reports that the crash happened when the driver of a semi-trailer heading south on Highway 550 about a mile north of NW Loop in Rio Rancho, lost control due to slick road, and crossed on to the northbound lane, crashing into an SUV with the two women onboard.
The driver of the SUV a 42-year-old woman, died in the crash. The passenger, a 32-year old woman was taken to the hospital with very serious injuries but not life threatening. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
At the time of the accident, there was heavy rain and very slick road conditions which contributed to the crash.
