Northbound Coors Bypass is expected to remain closed for several days between Coors Boulevard and Seven Bar Loop as crews work to repair a large water main that ruptured early Tuesday morning. The break occurred in the 10000 block of Coors Bypass, just north of Eagle Ranch Road and near Cottonwood Mall, according to the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.

The closure is forcing detours for northbound drivers, who are being redirected from Coors to NM 528 (Alameda). Access to Cottonwood Mall remains available from the east end of Seven Bar Loop. Officials are urging commuters to avoid the area and instead use alternate routes such as Alameda or Paseo del Norte.
Message boards and detour signage are expected to be installed this afternoon to guide drivers through the area. Water Authority crews continue to assess damage and repair the broken 20‑inch PVC line. Nearby residents may experience low water pressure or temporary service interruptions until repairs are complete.
The cause of the water main break has not yet been determined, and no estimated reopening time has been announced.
