Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed former Lincoln County Commissioner Rex Wilson to represent Senate District 33, filling the seat left vacant by the resignation of Nicholas Paul.
Wilson served as a Lincoln County commissioner from 1997 to 2003 and is a rancher and former southern region director for Presbyterian Medical Services, where he oversaw programs in Chaves, Lincoln and Otero counties.

Paul, a Republican from Alamogordo, resigned from the Senate citing health concerns.
Rex Wilson who is from Ancho, said “I am humbled and honored to serve the people of Senate District 33. I look forward to getting meaningful things done for my fellow community members and the citizens of our Great State of New Mexico. Let’s get to work.”
Senate Republican Leader Bill Sharer (R-Farmington) issued the following statement: “I extend my gratitude and congratulations to Rex Wilson, who will do a fantastic job serving the people of Senate District 33.” The Senator continued, “Rex’s contributions in the Legislature will benefit every New Mexican and he will make a great addition to our New Mexico Senate Republican Caucus. I am pleased that New Mexicans in Senate District 33 will have representation heading in to this upcoming Legislative Session.”
