Albuquerque- APD detectives are working the investigation of a weekend homicide that happened in the area of Central Ave and Jefferson NE in the early hours on Saturday morning.
Officers arrived at the scene near the Quirky Used Bookstore after receiving calls on shots fired in the area. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot and provided first aid to the victim. The man died at the scene. The incident happened near the bookstore which is involved in controversy over allowing homeless people to camp and stay at the back of their parking lot.
In a statement released by Quirky Used Book Store, they say surveillance video shows that a fight broke out between two men and ended in the fatal shooting. The statement also says that the “unhoused tenants who they allow to camp at the parking lot were not involved in the crime”
No other details have been released including the victims name or if anyone has been arrested in the shooting.
