Torrance County, NM (KKOB) – Three people were killed overnight in a head-on collision involving a Jeep and a semi-trailer on I-40 near Clines Corners.
Torrance County Sheriff’s office reports that around midnight Monday, a Jeep with three people on board was traveling east on I-40 and for unknown reasons crossed into the westbound lanes and crashed head on with a semi. Two of the people in the Jeep were ejected and killed, their bodies were runover by other vehicles unaware they were in the road. A woman who was not ejected died inside the vehicle. The driver of the semi was slightly injured. Sheriff David Frazee says that some beer cans were found inside the vehicle but the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
I-40 was closed for several hours but reopened.
