Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – An investigation is underway by local, and state authorities and the FBI over an AI created version of the “Cat in the Hat” character that has appeared on social media around the country and now here in New Mexico. The media posts make threats to schools and students and so far 27 schools in the state have appeared on the posts on Tik Tok and naming schools in Albuquerque, Farmington and Bloomfield.
Albuquerque Public Schools sent a letter to parents Wednesday saying there was no evidence that the threat is more than a hoax but as added precaution and prevention increased police presence district wide with help by APD and Bernalillo Sheriff’s Office. In Connecticut an eighth grader was arrested as part of the posts. School and law enforcement say if you see posts like these to report them immediately.
